2021 Management Conference Announcement

News,

A Message to our Members,

The Board of Directors of Kentucky Rural Water Association has decided to cancel the 2021 KRWA Management Conference scheduled for April 6-7 in Bowling Green at the Holiday Inn University Plaza and Sloan Convention Center. This was a difficult decision in these unprecedented times dealing with the effects of COVID-19. The decision to cancel centered on protecting our members’ physical and economic health. A lot of the board discussions dealt with the financial hardships that utilities are already facing with reduced revenue streams over the past year and no clear idea of when it will be safe to meet in person.

The uncertainties surrounding the logistics of hosting a conference with attendance of over 400 people in our exhibit hall and 150+ people in general sessions and at meal functions led the board to make the tough call for cancellation. As of now, gatherings are still severely limited in Kentucky and we have no indication as to when those restrictions will be lifted.

We have been offering many on-line training opportunities since the pandemic began and they have been well-received by the membership. We look for a return to in-person training at the Operator EXPO scheduled for June 23-24, 2021 at the Hardin County Fairground in Glendale. As part of our conference planning process we are considering an expansion of the EXPO to offer more training hours, and we may also offer a Management Training track to cater more to managers and decision-makers.

Thank you for your membership and understanding during these times. Please know that we always try to make decisions in the best interests of our members and their people!

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me or anyone else at the KRWA office.
