Water Treatment Plant Operator (Full-Time)
City of Albany Water Department – Albany, Kentucky
The City of Albany Water Department is currently accepting applications for four full-time Water Treatment Plant Operator positions. We are hiring licensed operators to support the operation of our municipal water treatment facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and operate water treatment plant equipment and controls
- Test and analyze water quality to ensure compliance with state and federal standards
- Adjust chemical feed rates and treatment processes as needed
- Maintain accurate operational records and daily logs
- Assist with preventative maintenance and light equipment repairs
- Work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
Minimum Qualifications:
For Licensed Operators:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Kentucky Class I or higher Water Treatment Plant Operator License
- Valid driver’s license
- Prior experience in water treatment or public utilities preferred
For Entry-Level/Trainee Positions:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to complete required training
- Must be able to obtain a Class I Water Treatment Operator License within the timeframe set by the Kentucky Division of Water
Work Schedule:
Positions include rotating shifts (days/nights/weekends/holidays). Must be willing to work scheduled shifts as part of a 24-hour operations team.

Work Requirements:
- Must be able to climb, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in various weather conditions
- Must be able to work safely around chemicals and mechanical equipment
- Must be willing to continue education for License requirements
