Water Treatment Plant Operator
Paducah Water operates a Class IVA municipal water treatment plant located in Paducah, Kentucky, and is currently seeking applications for the full-time position of Water Treatment Plant Operator.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include testing, monitoring, and adjusting chemical feed rates; preparing and maintaining daily logs; inspecting and monitoring all aspects of the treatment process; and assisting in light maintenance as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Kentucky Class III or higher Water Treatment Operator License; or a baccalaureate degree in engineering, biological, environmental, physical, or chemical science, or equivalent, from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Must be able to obtain a Kentucky Class IVA Water Treatment Operator’s License upon becoming eligible.

Pay:
- Entry-Level Trainee (without license): $27.99/hour (90% of full rate)
- Shift Operator (with license): $31.10/hour (100% of full rate)
- Night Shift Premium: Additional 10% pay differential
- Annual Wage Increases: Effective January 1
Work Hours:
Once a Class IVA license has been obtained (estimated within 15 months), this is a scheduled night shift position from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Thursday – Saturday, and alternating Sundays. Work on all scheduled holidays is required.
Physical and Work Requirements:
- Participation in the random drug testing program is required.
- Must be able to climb, bend, lift, and carry up to 60 lbs, and work in both hot and cold weather conditions.
- Must be able to work safely in environments where chemical and mechanical hazards may exist.
