Eddyville Water Department Operator Opening

This position requires someone who can run both Water and Sewer plants, and work in both Distribution and Collections systems.

Applicant will be required to have or obtain the following in three years starting with Water Treatment Operator Class Ill License, Drinking Water Distribution Class II License, Waste Water Treatment Class II License, Waste Water Collection Class II License.

Applicant must be self-motivated and be able to handle some jobs on their own. Be able to work every other weekend. Be able to respond after hours for Emergency Repairs.

Duties and Responsibility's

Water Plant
Open and shut down Water Plant, adjust chemicals to maintain state and federal standards and to keep cost down. Backwash filters, waste grit and sludge, handle chemicals, change out chlorine cylinders, run daily test, get samples to be sent to lab, get chlorine samples from system every day, do electrical work, plumbing, maintenance on equipment, be able to work on pumps, motors and valves, mop and sweep plant, mow and weed eat plant, calibrate equipment. Be able to Lift S0Lbs.

Sewer Plant
Check plant, runs 24-7, Get samples ready to be sent to lab, adjust sludge levels to keep water quality in state and federal standards, pull pumps, work on valves, actuators, blowers, motors, and do maintenance on them, do electrical and plumbing, program samplers, add chemical to control algae, clean bar screen and do maintenance on it, run backflush on SBR units, sweep and mop plant, mow and weed eat plant, calibrate equipment. Be able to lift S0Lbs.

Water Distribution
Flush hydrants, exercise valves, read meters, do turn on-offs ,get readings, answer customer complaints for City Hall, fix leaks, check customer meters for leaks, run meter test on customer meters, make water taps, road bores, replace water meters, walk water lines for possible leaks, mow, weed eat, bush hog around intakes, valves master meters, run air burst at Old Eddyville Lake Intake, add chemicals at intake, sweep and maintain intake, landscape where we fixed leaks, mark lines for 811.

Sewer Collections
Take care of 9 lift stations, includes mow and weed eat, pull pumps, do electrical and plumbing, walk sewer lines looking for possible trouble, repair air release valves, make sewer taps, unstop sewer blockages, landscape where we had problems, mark lines for 811

Equipment
Operate the following, Backhoe, Vac-Truck, Dump Truck, Excavator, air compressor, utility saw, chain saw, smoker, welder, cutting torch, jack hammer, trash pump, bush hog, mower, weed eater, sand blaster, road borer, and be able to work on all of the above.

Pool
Sand blast, paint, do cement work, do electrical and plumbing, work on pumps, weld, clean everything to get ready to open.

Office Work
Be able to operate a computer to enter daily results onto spread sheets. Help keep a log of daily events. Use laptop for meter reading. Be able to use a tablet to find assets in system.
