Meade County Water District Brandenburg, Kentucky is seeking applications for a forward-thinking and effective leader to be its next General Manager.

The Meade County Water District is a county water utility serving approximately 5,400 consumers.  The utility is rapidly growing due to large industrial and residential growth in the region.  Meade County is about 40 miles west of Louisville and 30 miles northwest of Elizabethtown.  The utility has approximately 325 miles of water mains and purchases all its water from Hardin County Water District #1. 

The General Manager is responsible for the entire operation of the Meade County Water District (District). Under minimal direction and supervision, the General Manager leads the operations of the District to provide the approximately 5,400 customers with a safe and reliable water supply; provides professional and technical assistance to the Board of Directors, and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Management, Business Administration or Public Administration is highly desired. 

Essential Functions

This position is responsible for directing, administering, and coordinating all operational, engineering, maintenance, construction, and financial activities of the District’s operation within the scope delegated by the Board.  This includes significant field and administrative responsibilities; developing and managing annual budgets; responding to emergency situations at all hours; hiring, training, and managing personnel; establishing and enforcing work standards while creating a harmonious and productive working relationship with immediate staff and other employees; providing regular reports to the Board of Directors; and fostering good public relations.

The compensation package will include a competitive salary, paid vacation and holidays, health and dental insurances, and CERS retirement plan.
