Supervises: Subordinate personnel.

Class Characteristics: Performs difficult work planning, organizing, directing and coordinating all activities of the division. In addition, ensuring time and accuracy of the service orders, maintenance, and supervising other field employees.

General Duties and Responsibilities: Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and evaluates all activities of the division, under the supervision of the water district Superintendent.

Supervises employees and spot checks for accuracy and provides additional personnel support.

Ensures compliance with state laws, administrative regulations, local 
ordinances, and departmental policies.

Establishes readings routes, reads meters and assigns to 
employees. Troubleshoots, changes, repairs, rebuilds, preforms preventive maintenance and calibrates meters. Performs employee evaluations and reviews evaluation with employee, salary recommendations, interviews potential new hires for the entire department. 
Ensures that adequate inventory of materials, supplies, and tools are maintained. Provides training for new employees and maintains necessary records for employees. Coordinates water shut-offs and turn-ons, new meter installations, removals, register changes, and other modifications that may affect the billing department. Meets with customers to resolve disputes; proper maintenance of division vehicles, including preventive maintenance; maintains accurate records and reports on division activities; works with office personnel to contact, inform, and advise our water customers during outages, water shortages, or conservations; attends training programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Class II or III water distribution license. Certification/Licensing Requirements: Valid driver’s license. A commercial driver’s license (CDL) is preferred, but not required.

Availability: Must be able to respond to calls in emergency situations at any time.

Overtime Provision: Non-exempt.
