The SHELBYVILLE MUNICIPAL WATER AND SEWER COMMISSION is seeking an employee as described below:

WATER TREATMENT PLANT CERTIFIED OPERATOR

 This position will require an applicant that has been certified as a Class 3 or 4 by the Kentucky Division of Water, for Water Treatment Plant Operations. We would also consider an applicant with a class 2 license that is willing to advance to a higher classification. This position requires duties that are performed indoors and outdoors, and at times, including grounds keeping and janitorial duties, as well as minor maintenance tasks. This position also requires heavy lifting, and, from time to time, working in extreme outdoor weather conditions.     

PAY RANGE FOR THIS POSITION IS:

WITH DIVISION OF WATER CLASS III Starting at $22.50 / HOUR based on qualifications with room for advancement.  

WITH DIVISION OF WATER CLASS IV Starting at $27.50 / HOUR based on qualifications with room for advancement.

At a later date this position will require independent rotating shift work typically 4-10 hour days, including some week-ends and late evening shifts.

Other duties are described below, but the position is not limited to these descriptions.

  1. Perform and evaluate routine process control testing under the direction of the licensed shift Operator.
  2. Supervised maintenance and inspection of pumps and valves.
  3. Preventive and corrective maintenance as directed by the supervisor
  4. Meter Reading

The person hired shall be willing to work in a disciplined work environment, including compliance with Commission safety rules and regulations, as well as a willingness to strictly follow operating procedures, and the direction of senior employees.

The selected person must pass a Pre-employment physical, including drug screening, and a background check.
