Regional Water Resource Agency (RWRA), the municipal wastewater (sewer) utility located in Owensboro, KY, is accepting applications for the position of Treatment Plant Operator – 2nd Shift

 

This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant, as well as ensuring permit compliance, operator maintenance of equipment, and preventive maintenance in a wastewater treatment plant. 

 

Essential Job Duties:

* Operates and monitors wastewater treatment plants directly and remotely through Supervisory Control

   and Data Acquisition (SCADA), as well as monitors collection system pump stations through

   SCADA/Mission

* Operates sludge dewatering equipment and wastewater equipment (pumps, chemical feeding units, BNR

   system, clarifying equipment and UV disinfection); adjusts valves, gates, and other equipment according to   

   plant procedures and schedules

* Receives after-hours emergency calls from the public and alarm calls from pump stations, then dispatches

   on-call employees as needed

* Records meter readings and plant conditions on Operator’s daily log and enters data into computer

   spreadsheet

* Takes process samples and performs process control testing

* Working in an indoor and outdoor environment, being in a standing, walking, and sitting position on a

   frequent basis, and lifting/carrying up to 75 lbs in any given day

* Exposure to wastewater on a frequent basis; performing confined space entries occasionally

 

Job Requirements:

* One to two years related experience and/or training in a wastewater or related field

* High school diploma or GED

* Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Office, Internet, and Email

* Kentucky Class I Wastewater Operators license is required to be obtained as soon as Kentucky Division of

   Water allows for testing, if do not possess prior to employment; Class II, III, IV licenses are strongly

   encouraged to be obtained

* Being at least 18 years of age

* Valid driver’s license

      

Job Schedule:

* Full-time (40 hours per week), non-exempt position opening

* Shift for this position will be 2nd shift with hours of coverage from 2:00pm – 12:00am

* This shift is a non-standard schedule of 10 hours per day, Wednesday – Wednesday, 8 days in a row on-shift,

   then be off work from Thursday – Tuesday, 6 days in a row off-shift

* This position will work on weekends and holidays

 

Pay Range and Benefits:

* Beginning pay rate may range from $25.57/hour to $32.51/hour, depending upon relative work experience

   and education
