Green River Valley Water District Wins 2025 Best Tasting Water in Kentucky
Bowling Green, KY – November 5, 2025 – At the 2025 KRWA Management Conference, held at the Sloan Convention Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the title of “Best Tasting Water in Kentucky” was awarded to Green River Valley Water District during the association’s annual Member Appreciation Reception. The award recognizes the state’s top-performing public water system in a statewide competition where utilities submit samples of their tap water for judging.
The Kentucky Rural Water Association (KRWA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and training public water and wastewater systems across the state, has hosted the Best Tasting Water Competition for more than 20 years. The contest highlights the high quality, great value, and exceptional taste of Kentucky’s public drinking water.
A distinguished panel of judges, including Lee Park (Hawkins, Inc.), BJ Bland (Operator Certification), Patrick Donoghue (Kentucky 811), Brandt Cashion (S4 Water), and Ashlee Wilson Quinn (WNKY), evaluated the entries based on taste, clarity, and aroma. Among 15 entries from across the state, Green River Valley Water District stood out for delivering high-quality water with exceptional taste.
Andrew Tucker, General Manager at Green River Valley Water District, said, “We’re honored to receive this recognition again. Our team works hard every day to provide safe, clean, and great-tasting water to our community, and it’s exciting to see that effort recognized on a statewide level.”
Michael Peterson, Water Plant Manager at Green River Valley Water District, added, “Our team at Green River works diligently to not just meet the standard but be the standard.”
Over 500 utility professionals attended the 2025 Management Conference, which featured educational sessions, networking opportunities, and Kentucky’s largest exhibition of products and services for public utilities. Winning the Best Tasting Water honor is especially meaningful for Green River Valley Water District, which will now represent Kentucky at the 2026 Great American Water Taste Test at the National Rural Water Association’s Rural Water Rally in Washington, D.C., in February.
