General Manager

Ohio County Water District in Hartford, Kentucky is seeking applications for General Manager.

The General Manager is responsible for the entire operation of the Ohio County Water District (District). Under minimal direction and supervision, the General Manager leads the operations of the rural water utility to provide the approximately 6,000 customers with safe and reliable water supply; provides professional and technical assistance to the Board of Directors, and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Management, Business Administration or Public Administration is highly desired.  A minimum of five years of experience in a supervisory capacity overseeing multiple departments and employees is required.  The successful candidate must possess a Kentucky Class 3D Drinking Water Distribution Operator Certificate or be able to obtain this certificate within two years.

Essential Functions

This position is responsible for directing, administering, and coordinating all operational, engineering, maintenance, construction, and financial activities of the District’s operation within the scope delegated by the Board.  This includes significant field and administrative responsibilities;  developing and managing annual budgets;  responding to emergency situations at all hours;  hiring, training, and managing personnel;  establishing and enforcing work standards while creating a harmonious and productive working relationship with immediate staff and other employees; providing regular reports to the Board of Directors; and fostering good public relations.
