2023 Session Begins!

The Kentucky General Assembly kicked off its 2023, “short” legislative session on Tuesday, January 3rd in a relatively normal fashion, spending a significant part of the four-day workweek on organizational items like welcoming dozens of new members (31 new lawmakers took the oath of office this week – 25 in the House and six in the Senate) and releasing the House committee’s membership. In addition, both chambers took action on a handful of Republican priorities. Friday’s final gavel concluded Part I of the 2023 session, with the Legislature scheduled to reconvene on Tuesday, February 7 to begin a six-week sprint to finish off their work.
