Water/Sewer Maintenance Operator

The City of Berea is accepting applications for a Water/Sewer Maintenance Operator in the Utilities 
department. All collection and distribution license and experience levels will be considered.


Job Goal
Assist with repairing, cleaning, and maintaining water mains and/or wastewater mains. Operate and 
maintain wastewater lift stations. Provide responsive customer service.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
•  Assists with the construction, installation, maintenance, cleanliness, and repair of the water 
distribution and wastewater sewer collection system.
•  Performs water and sewer taps.
•  Locates water and sewer lines, valves, etc.
•  Inspects and locates leaks in lines.
•  Operates equipment and vehicles assigned to the division.
•  Installs and builds manholes.
•  Cleans sewer lines.
•  Assists with the project restoration work after the completion of repairs.
•  Assists with meter reading duties.
• Flushes hydrants.
•  Responds to calls in emergency situations at all hours.
•  Performs other duties as required or requested.

Qualifications
•  High School Diploma or equivalent.
•  No work-related experience is required, but experience in construction or a public works-related 
field is preferred.
•  Kentucky Wastewater and/or Water Collection and/or Distribution licenses preferred.
•  Must obtain First Aid and CPR Certification.
•  Must obtain a commercial driver’s license with a Class A trailer endorsement within one-year of 
hire date.
•  This is an on-call position and will require both scheduled and unscheduled overtime.

Pay Range: $37,324 - $49,896 (Based on experience/license level)
