Event Details

This two-day Kentucky Rural Water Association training provides operators with a comprehensive look at modern utility operations, blending technical skills, regulatory awareness, and organizational effectiveness. The program begins with tools that improve system performance and decision-making, including GIS applications, Lean-based operational strategies, and cybersecurity practices to protect critical infrastructure. It also emphasizes communication and leadership, helping operators strengthen internal teamwork and public interactions while navigating regulatory requirements such as Lead and Copper Rule Improvements. Day two shifts into hands-on operational topics, including water and wastewater analysis, laboratory best practices, and emerging contaminant management such as PFAS. Additional sessions explore nutrient impacts on waterways and evolving regulatory expectations, ensuring operators are prepared for future compliance challenges. Overall, the training equips operators with practical strategies to improve efficiency, enhance water quality, strengthen compliance, and build more resilient and effective utility systems.
