Wednesday - Lead & Copper Rule (LCR) Compliance and Communication (6hrs DW CEU)

Wednesday provides an in-depth review of the updated Lead and Copper Rule, outlining new compliance responsibilities, deadlines, and regulatory expectations, with a strong emphasis on clear internal coordination and effective communication with customers. Participants will receive guidance on lead sampling procedures, developing service line inventories, applying statistical tools to meet regulatory standards, and fulfilling expanded testing requirements for schools and childcare facilities. The day will concluded with an overview of the cooperative support provided by the Kentucky Division of Water and the Kentucky Rural Water Association to help utilities navigate and achieve compliance with the new rule.

Thursday - Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Resilience (6hrs DW&WW CEU)

Thursday focuses on strengthening utility resilience during emergencies by clarifying statutory authority, mutual aid processes, and staff roles in disaster situations. Participants will learn about the safe use of generators and bypass pumps, how to leverage FEMA programs for infrastructure strengthening and disaster recovery, and strategies for all-hazards preparedness, mitigation planning, and maintaining service continuity. The day will conclude with an overview of AWIA compliance requirements, including conducting risk and resilience assessments, developing emergency response plans, and incorporating cybersecurity considerations for utility staff and leadership.
