Disaster Recovery Program:

Introducing Kentucky Rural Water Association's latest initiative: the Disaster Recovery Program, spearheaded by our newly appointed Disaster Recovery Circuit Rider (DRCR), Stephen Hogan. While we may not face hurricanes in our region, we understand the critical need for preparedness and swift action in the face of disasters like tornadoes, flooding, and other emergencies.

Stephen Hogan, with his extensive experience and expertise, will lead our efforts in enhancing emergency response capabilities across rural Kentucky. From strategic planning to coordinating personnel and equipment, Stephen will ensure that our communities are well-prepared to tackle any crisis that may arise. USDA RD Disaster Recovery Funding: 

Available to communities and utilities within the Presidentially declared disaster areas of CY-2022. For Kentucky, FEMA-4643-DR and FEMA-4663-DR, which includes the counties of: Boyd, Breathitt, Carter, Casey, Christian, Clay, Cumberland, Floyd, Green, Harlan, Johnson, Knott, Lawrence, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Lincoln, Magoffin, Martin, Owsley, Perry, Pike, Powell, Taylor, Whitley, & Wolfe.

The Calendar Year 2022 Disaster Water Grants program provides financial assistance to eligible communities affected by Presidential declared disasters, aiding in the repair and improvement of water systems. Eligible entities include municipalities, counties, nonprofit organizations, federally recognized Tribes, and certain community-based organizations. Priority is given to rural areas, towns with populations of up to 35,000, federally recognized Tribal lands, and Colonies. The funds are directed towards developing water infrastructure capacity and resilience to mitigate long-term risks resulting from disasters occurring in 2022.
