Warren Water Celebrates Tank Raising
BOWLING GREEN, KY – Warren County Water District celebrated the raising of a 2,000,000 gallon water tank to share the significance of an improvement project of this magnitude with the community. The Three Springs Area Improvement Project includes the elevated water storage tank, water mains and a pumping station. The total project cost is $3.3 million and is funded primarily by a grant from the 2008 State Legislature. Thanks to this grant funding, the construction costs associated with this project will not impact rates to customers.
“Thanks to the support and leadership from our state and local elected officials we are able to make large scale system improvements without increasing rates to our customers,” stated Henry Honaker, Chairman of the Warren County Water District’s Board of Commissioners. “By continuing the strong partnership between Warren Water and government officials at all levels we remain prepared for future growth.”
The Three Springs Area Improvement Project will serve the areas of Three Springs Road, Nashville Road, Russellville Road and west to Blue Level Road. The construction of the elevated water tank began in January 2009 and will be in full operation by January 2010. The water lines include approximately one-half mile of 20-inch water line and 1,500 feet of 10-inch water line. The pump station is located on Nashville Road and will pump 850 gallons per minute into the South Industrial Park Tank. The new water mains connect the tank to the existing water line network and will increase overall system capacity, provide more constant pressure and fire protection will be enhanced.
WCWD General Manager Alan Vilines added, “Our team of professionals at Warren Water design and construct all projects in environmentally responsible ways. The new pump station on Nashville Road will reduce energy consumption drastically. Environmental stewardship is a key component of Warren Water service.”
The Three Springs Area Improvement Project reflects the commitment of WCWD to quality of life by ensuring clean, safe drinking water at affordable rates. An aggressive capital improvement program will continue to be a priority for Warren Water to carry out the mission of meeting the ever-growing needs of the residential, commercial and industrial customers of Warren County.
