The City of Ashland is accepting applications for the position of METER SERVICES FIELD SUPERVISOR
Utilities Department / Water Distribution DivisionSupervisor: Water Distribution Supervisor
Supervises: Subordinate personnel.
Grade: 11 Pay Range: $30.020-$43.530/ hour


Class Characteristics: Performs difficult work planning, organizing, directing and coordinating all activities of the division. In addition, ensuring time and accuracy of the water meter readings, service orders and maintenance, and supervising all lower classified department employees.


General Duties and Responsibilities: Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and evaluates all activities of the division. Supervises employees and spot checks for accuracy and provides additional personnel support. Ensures compliance with state laws, administrative regulations, local ordinances, and departmental policies. Establishes readings routes, reads meters and assigns to employees. Troubleshoots, changes, repairs, rebuilds, preforms preventive maintenance and calibrates residential and commercial meters. Performs employee evaluations and reviews evaluation with employee, salary recommendations, interviews potential new hires for the entire department. Ensures that adequate inventory of materials, supplies, and tools are maintained. Provides training for new employees and maintains necessary records for employees. Takes applications for casual water and creates invoices. Coordinates division activities with utility and finance division; including water shut-offs and turn-ons, new meter installations, removals, register changes, and other modifications that may affect the billing department. Meets with customers to resolve disputes; proper maintenance of division vehicles, including preventive maintenance; maintains accurate records and reports on division activities; import and export meter readings to the billing personnel by computer; contacts, informs, and advises major water customers during outages, water shortages, or conservations; attends training programs.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Class III water distribution license. Must obtain Class IV water distribution license when eligible.
Certification/Licensing Requirements: Valid driver’s license. A commercial driver’s license (CDL) is preferred, but not required.
Availability: Must be able to respond to calls in emergency situations at any time.
Overtime Provision: Non-exempt.
