East Logan’s Fun-Filled Summer Event
East Logan Water District recently held its annual Customer Appreciation Day on the front lawn of the utility’s office located in Auburn, KY. The summer humidity and heat didn’t deter the nearly 700 customers who filled the many tables arranged under the big tent, all decorated with red, white and blue mums and American flags. The patriotic decorations with American flags flying in the warm summer breeze made for a perfectly sweet summer day. The red, white and blue balloons were flying high as the dog days of summer were turned into a customer friendly picnic. The aroma of the grill of the ever popular Nathan’s hotdogs filled the air as customers lined up for lunch and were greeted and welcomed by East Logan’s staff and board of directors.
A very popular added attraction this year was the Hawaiian Shaved Ice, in which customers enjoyed the refreshing treat of the summer’s most favorite flavors. As the day went on and the temperatures climbed, more and more customers were lining up for seconds and thirds of this delicious summertime treat. Adults as well as children seemed to enjoy this very much.
Not only were customers standing in line for their lunch, but also registering for many door prizes given by East Logan Water, such as picnic baskets, fishing poles, and an array of summertime fun things. One lucky customer was also the winner of a $100 credit on her water bill.
Promotional items filled goodie bags with frisbees for the children, folding yard sticks, fly swatters and walking sticks were also given to customers. As always, the ever popular reusable refillable water bottles were handed out to customers in support of East Logan’s campaign to TURN ON THE TAP!
Customers could all take in the displays that the district staff had created for them such as a booth that actually showed customers the amazing powers that the magical elixir, TAP WATER has to offer, such as higher metabolism, better concentration, higher energy levels, overall health, lengthens your life, keeps you lean forever, and even better, you can have as much of this magic weight-loss potion as you want and start stripping away pounds. East Logan Water District encourages customers to turn on their tap today and enjoy a refreshing beverage, TAP WATER, it does a body good!
There was also a display showing the different types of water meters with the field staff demonstrating for the customers how to read their meters and how to turn their meters off and on and also how to check for a leak. This information is also included in a video on East Logan’s website at www.eastloganwater.com
Another booth that was very interesting for customers to see was the 20 ounce Dasani bottled water costing $1.59 versus the huge container sitting next to the single bottle of water. For the same $1.59 a customer receives 137 gallons of East Logan tap water. Point made, my friends, tap water is the way to go! Think about it, 20 ounces of bottled water versus 137 gallons of tap water.
And last but not least, next to the red, white and blue decorated cupcakes that spelled out “East Logan Water District Welcomes You” was a display of good ole East Logan tap water, iced down in Igloo coolers for customers to enjoy all afternoon in East Logan’s reusable refillable cups. Afterall, there is nothing more refreshing than a cold drink of tap water anytime of year, water….. it’s clearly a great value!
All throughout the event, East Logan’s board of directors and management and staff were welcoming their customers to this annual event and thanking them for coming. This event brings in several visitors around the area, which includes some political figures, bankers, East Logan’s supplier, Logan Todd Regional Water Commission, members of neighboring water districts and business people around the county.

Another very exciting attraction this year included the Air-Evac Lifeteam helicopter making a landing in the field adjacent to the event. Customers were all invited to see the helicopter up close and personal and talk with the Air Evac Lifeteam. East Logan Water promoted the attraction in hopes that their customers would be aware of the services offered by Air Evac and to become a member if they were not already.
