NON-EXEMPT – The position(s) is/are not exempt from FLSA requirements for time and a half overtime compensation. The employee(s) will earn time and a half for time worked in excess of 40 hours per work week.

*Description of Job Duties :

This position will perform drinking water and wastewater utility inspections and investigations to ensure the utility is in compliance with regulations and statutes which protect consumers and promote safety. Analyze utility audits and draft correspondence in accordance for the utility to reconcile any compliance issues that exist. Prepare timely reports to internal and/or external organizations summarizing the state of the utility inspections for the Division.

Selection Method :

Pay Grade 13 (MIN-MID) $32,042.40 – $42,656.40 yearly at 37.5 hour work week OR $34,178.64 – $45,500.16 yearly at 40 hour work week

Characteristics of the Job :

Performs professional level duties in the investigation of utility companies for compliance with laws and regulations governing the operation of public utilities; and performs other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

Education : Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree in engineering technology, fire science or a related field.

Experience : Must have two years of experience in the operation, regulation, safety or engineering design of a utility or utility related industry.

Substitute Education for Experience : Related technical or vocational school training will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitution Clause :

Substitute Experience for Education : Two years additional experience in engineering technology, fire science or a related field will substitute for the required education.

Work is performed in both an office setting and in the field. Incumbents may be required to carry heavy and potentially hazardous test instruments, and traverse uneven and hazardous terrain in all weather conditions. Potential exposure to harmful chemicals and dangerous environments.

Upon appointment, employees in this class may be required to maintain a valid driver’s license and required to drive a licensed vehicle.
